Yard of the Month
The Memorial Thicket℠ Yard of the Month for September is 711 Bow String Cove. The lovely Beasley residence makes a statement on this corner lot with beautiful sweeping beds filled with Hibiscus, Mexican Heather, Nandinas, Dicots, and Variegated Ginger. But that only begins to tell the story of this tranquil setting. Blood Lily, Autumn Sage, Chinese Fringe Flower, Vitex, Crepe Myrtles, Ligustrum and Dianellas all have an important part to play in setting the scene.
They say everything is bigger in Texas and the Beasley landscape is a true reflection of that. Enormous Lantana and Gold Shower blow softly in the breeze and if you look closely you will even see Okra that the Homeowner has planted in the front and back yards that yielded 1000 pods in last year's harvest! A hummingbird feeder is positioned by the window awaiting visitors from afar while decorative statuary and metal sculptures by artisan Lee Groff peek out from behind the plants.
Be sure to catch this lovely home on Bow String Cove!
Eldridge at Memorial Construction
The "right turn" lane from southbound Eldridge to westbound Memorial is now closed (over a week after it was scheduled to be). All that was done was to move the barrels to block the lane. The lane will be closed until the end of the project, which may not be completely finished until December.
The issue at that intersection continues to be, however, the left turn only lane on southbound Eldridge. Many motorists either go straight out of that lane or jump into the next lane at the last minute. The City is acutely aware of the issue, which could easily be resolved, but has refused to make any changes.
Now we have two traffic signs that says the right lane is right-turn only, while the street marking says otherwise. That's a recipe for an accident. At today's construction progress meeting, Greg again made the City aware of the issue and the signs should be coming down presently.
