Update on Recent Break-ins
The investigation and research into the recent break-ins is ongoing. We currently believe the burglar was a lone individual who made entry into the neighborhood from the park. The break-ins occurred between 7:30pm and 10:30pm on January 1, 2021. MTHA guards are reviewing videos received from residents. If you have video of that time frame, please review it for any suspicious activity. If you believe you have helpful video, please contact the guards. As previously mentioned, access to the homes was made through windows. It appears the burglar did not leave the master bedroom area of the homes. Of the three homes burglarized, one had an alarm that was not armed and two did not have alarm systems. None of the residents had notified the guards of their departures. If additional material information is gathered, we will send out another update.
Please remember to check your alarm system regularly to make sure it is working properly. If you are unsure whether your system adequately protects you, your family and your property, have your security company do an assessment. When you do go out of town, please complete an out of town notice for the guards. For added security you may also request the guards walk your home’s perimeter while you are away. MTHA has an agreement with Smith Thompson Security for monitoring services. If you do not have an alarm system and would like to use Smith Thompson, please notify me and I will provide you with the information regarding Smith Thompson's services.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: A security system is required under the neighborhood DCCRs. Your system not only protects you, but also protects your neighbors. Please review the neighborhood information guide for any further information needed.
