Memorial Thicket℠ continues to maintain an A+ crime grade compared to a C+ for the total 77079 zip code area. The information contained below is the June 2025 monthly breakdown of offenses for which HPD wrote police reports for zip code 77079. This report includes both incidents and arrests. Of the 148 offenses in June, none were recorded within Memorial Thicket℠.
UPDATE: DING DONG DITCH!
Thanks to Ring Camera video, our DCCR Team, and Security, we were able to identify the youth involved. They have been turned over to their parents. PARENTS: Please inform your children that any disruptive situations are taken seriously and will not be tolerated.
IT'S GETTING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE SCHOOL TIME
This week, school begins in many districts across our area. In Memorial Thicket, HISD picks up our school-aged children on the exit side of the subdivision, right behind the guardhouse. Please drive slowly and pay close attention to these children either walking or being picked up at this location. The guards will also be present to help traffic flow, so please slow down and pay attention as you exit. Please obey the following: (1) Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is getting ready to load/unload; slow down and be prepared to stop; (2) Red flashing lights mean the bus is stopped and students are getting on/off. Drivers approaching the school bus from either direction must stop and not pass the school bus until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop sign is pulled back into place, the school bus has started to move, and the bus driver signals for vehicles to proceed; and (3) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE SUBDIVISION THROUGH THE ENTRANCE AT ANY TIME!
BE ALERT WHEN EXITING
With the completion of nearby multi-occupancy buildings, there has been an increase in foot traffic and bicycle traffic along Memorial. As a precaution, please make sure that you pay close attention as you exit, ensuring that you look both ways twice and do not drive forward blocking the walking path. This will ensure the safety for us and our neighbors.
MEMORIAL THICKET CAR TAGS
If you are new to Memorial Thicket or have a new car, your vehicle needs a Memorial Thicket identification sticker. Please stop by the guardhouse to obtain one and place it on the interior of the windshield, near the inspection sticker. These stickers help the guards to identify vehicles that may not belong in the community. Your prompt attention is appreciated!
