SECURITY

Please add the Memorial Thicket℠ Security cellphone number to your contacts: (713) 501-5406. If you need assistance or suspect suspicious activity, please call them immediately.  Memorial Thicket℠ continues to maintain an A+ crime grade compared to a C+ for the total 77079 zip code area. The information contained below is the October 2025 monthly breakdown of offenses for which HPD wrote police reports for zip code 77079. This report includes both incidents and arrests. Of the 127 offenses in October, none were recorded within Memorial Thicket℠.

SAFETY TIPS TO GET US THROUGH THE YEAR

1.  As a reminder, you have the option to notify the Memorial Thicket security guards when you leave town. The guards will watch your property and help keep your home secure when you are away. You can pick up an Out-of-Town Notification Form from the guardhouse or download one from the Memorial Thicket website (Memorial Thicket). Please return it to the guards once completed.

2.  With the Holiday Season upon us, porch pirates become very active.  If you have packages being delivered, please minimize the time that the packages are left outside.  The security company that patrols our neighboring subdivisions has informed our guards of increased package and mailbox theft in those neighborhoods.  To potentially deter such actions, devices such as doorbell cameras allow you to view your front yard and front door if positioned correctly and to capture images. The cameras are fairly easy to install, and some models can be wired to existing doorbell wiring.  Several models also have options to allow you to talk to someone who is at the door.  You can make potential burglars think you are at home yet be traveling domestically or internationally.

3.  If you have security cameras, please make sure that they are in working order.  A picture paints a thousand words.  You should also ensure that your security system is working and set it when you leave.  Smart home devices such as light bulbs and security lighting can also be installed. You can turn them on and off remotely to create the impression you are at home. You can set them to work only during certain times.

4.  If you see any suspicious activity, including vehicles, please notify the guard on duty immediately.  Our security cameras at the guardhouse work very well, and if you are able to provide the date and time to the guards, we can review security footage to identify and track potential suspects.

5.  Please lock your vehicles while parked outside.  If you have a garage but park your vehicle outside, it is wise to bring the garage door opener inside with you.  This should become just as habitual as grabbing your keys and purse/wallet, and goes a long way in preventing break-ins.  Otherwise, burglars could use your opener to gain access to the garage and possibly your home.

6.  If you walk in the evenings, please try to wear reflective clothing or carry something that allows you to be seen.  You should also invite someone to walk with you. This is also a good reminder to ensure that you have a working lamppost.

7.  Many people share news of upcoming holiday travel on social media.  Criminals do rely on social media profiles to stalk and intrude homes while residents are away.  Please don't set yourself up as a target for criminals.

RESIDENT INFORMATION SHEET AND VEHICLE DECALS

1.  As mentioned at the Annual Meeting earlier this month, residents are required to complete a Resident Information Sheet and a No Solicitation Form prior to receiving a vehicle decal and a Memorial Thicket Directory.  Please stop by the guardhouse if you have not completed these forms (or if the forms need updating).  We encourage all residents to have a Memorial Thicket decal on their front windshield to help the guards identify vehicles entering the subdivision.
