UPDATE: RUMMAGING THROUGH VEHICLES
As a follow-up to the vehicle tampering events during the early morning hours of February 2, 2025, the number of vehicles involved was two, and not three as previously reported. CIS, LLC was able to determine that a male person of interest was riding a bicycle and carrying a backpack and "probably" entered Memorial Thicket through the back portion of the neighborhood. We do have video footage of the same person of interest exiting the front entrance at approximately 4:00a.m. and heading west on Memorial. We are not aware of any items being stolen or damaged. We have asked CIS, LLC to continue increased patrol during the night shift to potentially deter any unwanted traffic. Please continue to remain vigilant, keep your cars locked and windows tightly closed, and dust off your Ring camera lens! We will continue to keep you informed as information becomes available.

FIREWORKS AND NOISE ORDINANCES
Over the recent Holiday season, our guards responded to a reported unsupervised party with loud music after quiet hours and the reported discharge of fireworks within the subdivision. This is a good reminder that regardless of the time of year, the City of Houston Code of Ordinances Chapter 30 states that it is unlawful for any person to make or assists in making loud, unnecessary, or unusual sound or noise that disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of others. In the City of Houston, quiet time is generally from 10:01p.m. - 7:59a.m. Our community should strive to ensure that the privacy and comfort of its residents is always respected. In addition, it is also illegal to purchase, possess, and/or discharge fireworks in the City of Houston, which includes Memorial Thicket. If you have issues with the noise level or the discharge of fireworks within Memorial Thicket, please contact the security guard on duty at the number above.
WHAT MAKES OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE
We all know that safety was one of the first considerations when we were picking a place to live. We also want to be assured that our safety concerns are heard, and that neighbors help to resolve neighborhood concerns. Here are a few key factors that contribute to making Memorial Thicket a safe place to be: 1) Low Crime Rate - Neighborhoods with low crime rates generally attract families who want safety. Of the 2,059 total police reports written in 2024 for the 77079-zip code, only one occurred within Memorial Thicket. Two other instances involved theft of a resident's identity. These occurred within 77079 but not within the subdivision; 2) Community Engagement - Friendly neighborhoods make for stronger relationships among neighbors and greater alertness against crime. Please keep meeting your neighbors and join us for National Night Out on October 7th; 3) Visible Security Measures - Visible security measures in the form of patrols and surveillance cameras deter criminal activity. Residents should be on the lookout for enhanced security in the form of Flock cameras if approved by the MTHOA in 2026; and 4) Easy Access to Emergecy Services - Memorial Thicket is just around the corner from emergency personnel, with fast response time in an emergency situation due to the close proximity of a fire department and major hospitals.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY!
