Memorial Thicket March Security Newsletter

Security Newsletter March 2024

Welcome to the March edition of the Memorial Thicket Security Newsletter.

SECURITY

Please add the Memorial Thicket Security cellphone number to your contacts: (713) 501-5406. If you need assistance or suspect suspicious activity, please call them immediately.

Memorial Thicket continues to be peaceful and quiet and has above  average safety from crime. With a population approximating 38,000 in the 77079 area, our neighborhood continues to maintain an A+  crime grade compared to a C+ for the total 77079 zip code area. The information contained below is the February 2024 monthly breakdown of offenses for which HPD wrote police reports for zip code 77079. This report includes both incidents and arrests. Of the 132 offenses, one was recorded within Memorial Thicket.

LAMP POSTS

I moved this up in the newsletter as we continue to see an increase in the number of lamp post violations each month. If you live in the 710 block or 850 block of Plainwood, the 800 block of Walkwood Circle, the 710 or 720 block of Windbreak Trail, or the 710 block of Last Arrow, please check and ensure your lamp post is working. Many of these lamp posts have been out for several weeks and the notices have been ignored. Memorial Thicket℠ does not have streetlights and each residence is required to maintain a front yard post lamp equipped with a photoelectric cell (if the lamp is electrical) for general lighting during period of darkness per homeowner association policy. If you plan to replace or make improvements (other than bulb changes) to your outdoor lighting, please remember that no changes shall be commenced unless appropriate documentation has been submitted to and approved in writing by the Architectural Control Committee. Your cooperation is appreciated.

GOING OUT OF TOWN

The security guards are a great resource if you plan on being out of town. You can stop by the guardhouse and complete an Out-of-Town Notice. This will inform the guards of the day(s) you plan to be away from your home. You can request that the guards on duty walk the perimeter on your home once a day and also provide instructions for your local newspaper and US Mail.

SNICKET GATE

I am glad it only happened to me, but the batteries to the gate went out last week and my wife and I could not open the gate to get back in. Obviously, we just walked around the corner to the front of the subdivision and went back to install fresh batteries, but if you ever experience any problems with the gate, please send an e-mail to mthaboardsafety@gmail.com. Lastly, please do not share the gate code on any social media platform.

ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS! BE SAFE! YOUR FAMILY IS COUNTING ON YOU!
