At approximately 7:05pm on 11/09/2018 the security officer on duty was cleaning a backup firearm and accidentally discharged the firearm, the round ricocheted and fragmented with a small fragment entering the guards hand. The officer contacted the supervisor at 7:06pm. Both the owner of the security company, CIS Guards, and supervisor were on site in approximately 20 minutes. The guard was transported by ambulance to the hospital for his safety.
This is an isolated incident. I have been assured that guards will undergo additional training to prevent any future similar accidents.
