Yard of the Month
The Memorial Thicket Yard of the Month for October, at 15422 Walkwood, is the home of Glen and Alexis Jasek. The home has beautiful curb appeal, and the recently sculpted beds provide plenty to showcase. The front beds are filled with large, manicured Crepe Myrtles that provide a great backdrop for the yard. The accompanying front beds are also filled with much color from the assorted Vincas, Wandering Jew, young Nandina shrub, and assorted lily plants. The parallel beds that line the beautiful sidewalk leading to the home are flanked by Rosemary and also filled with assorted color from the Foxtail Fern, Vitex, Coleus, Lithodora, a fig tree, and assorted native grasses. Closer to the front entrance, a thick, lush groundcover surrounds the beds that hold the large oaks and the sago palms. The concrete garden bench is a wonderful addition to the front bed that offers a place to relax and enjoy nature and color at its finest.
When choosing the landscaping plants, Alexis was adamant about also including an Eastern Sunrise Redbud. It promises to be a showstopper in late Spring.
This is a beautiful yard to catch a view that provides a variety of complementary plants in a well maintained environment, not only this month, but year around!
